You Make My Heart Happy - A Card for My Mom
It's been a few weeks now, but I've wanted to share this post for some time and I'm finally getting around to it. I created this little card for my mom. She makes my heart so happy.
Over the past year, my health challenges have made even the simplest of tasks impossible at times. Things like cooking, cleaning and general everyday stuff.
We all know how things like this can pile up when not done for a week or two, or even a month or two. But going on a year, I was starting to feel overwhelmed at the sheer amount of life stuff that had mounted. It seemed like every corner of our house (and our life) needed attention, but I could only give so much and I was at a loss of how to tackle it all. My sweet mom, without hesitation, offered to come and help. So, a few weeks ago, she visited and spent an entire week with me, helping organize, clean and sort everything out. I was fortunate to have a couple of good days and even joined in on the cleaning (and even got back into cooking!!). It was so much fun! Perhaps it was because it had been so long since I've been able to roll up my sleeves, or maybe it was because we were doing it together, or maybe it was because it felt so good to tackle things finally. But mostly, I was just so grateful to have her here, and to have a mom who cares so much.
My life is blessed with so many wonderful friends, and my hubby being the best friend of all.
Still, there is no one on this planet quite like a mom. No one worries about you like moms do. And no one sacrifices their own needs the way a mama will. I am so blessed to have her in my life and she really makes my heart fuller.
Thank you for all that you do, momma.
I made this card using my favorite new go-to technique - layered embossing. You can find my quick tutorial on it here, and read about a few tips that make it super easy to achieve a clean look. I started this card with a soft blue cardstock base, and used the gorgeous, adorable Altenew Disty Print stamps for the focal point.
At the top of the card, I added a pretty striped bow, and a darling vintage button. I sprinkled some sequins, rhinestones and Nuvo drops around the card as well. For the focal image, I embossed the first layer in white, and then used a Blush Pearl for the second layer, and a Tan embossing powder for the last layer. Atop that, I added a chipboard frame, sprinkled with my favorite glitter.
For the sentiment, I used Altenew's Botanical You stamp set, embossed in White and Blush Pearl. And I totally forgot to use my anti-static pouch here - can you tell?
I'm so happy to say that my mom loved this card and picked it out of a whole pile of cards I made just for her :)
Thank you all for your visits and see you soon dear friends,
Ivana
